Photo 31: USAF Forward Air Controllers, Capt. Toni England, left and Capt. Walter Forbes, center were in the TOC when the call came in. They both ran to their aircraft to support the defenders at Gold. They performed magnificently until their aircraft was shot down by enemy ground fire. Both were killed in the crash.

Photo 33: This is the clearing where Fire Support Base Gold was set up and came under a devastating mass attack on the morning of March 21st, 1967. The following photos were taken on the day after the battle.
