This building was dedicated in June, 1972 in honor of Specialist Four Donald W. Evans Jr. who graduated from Company D, 1st Battalion, US Army Medical Training Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas in June, 1966. He was the first Medical Aidman to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor  posthumously in the Vietnam conflict for his extraordinary valor, dedication and indomitable spirit  in combat operations with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, north of Tri Tam, Republic of Vietnam, on 27 January, 1967
