WEDNESDAY:

Thursday is typically the first day that people arrive at the reunion site, but others get there a day early. The special room rate of $105. a night will apply for our group from Wednesday through the weekend so don't be afraid to come early.

Be aware that the hotel will be furnishing all Alpha Association guests with a free breakfast buffets in the hotel restaurant. Each of our rooms will entitle us to two tickets for free breakfast meals for each morning other than Saturday and Sunday, when we will be fed as a group in the Ballroom. The hours of the buffet are 6:30AM until 10AM. The breakfast buffet includes eggs, bacon or sausage, fruit, breakfast potatoes, etc, and of course drinks. Saturday and Sunday breakfasts will be served in our banquet hall.

The hotel lounge opens at 4PM and the restaurant opens at 5PM during the week. Although there are no lunches served at the hotel, there are many fine restaurants nearby to satisfy anyone's tastes and wallets.

There is free WI-FI service for all guests for the stay. An indoor pool and a work out room are available for those of you who want to exercise.

The Hospitality Room will be open to our members starting at noontime until 11PM on Wednesday. It will be open to us from 7AM until midnight for the rest of our stay.

People who arrive early generally do so for a few reasons. The first is to have extra time to socialize with other association members. The second reason is to tour local attractions in the area before the reunion actually begins on Friday. With Boston being so close, (31 miles away and a short 40 minute drive) they will have no  problem finding interesting locales and historical sites nearby. Another reason is to arrive early enough to participate in whatever group tours that are scheduled for Thursday.

THURSDAY:

The association has charted a luxury coach to take the group into Boston for the tour of The Constitution ship, the optional Duck Boat Tour that is being planned, and the afternoon at Faneuil Hall Market Place. This is what is being planned for that Thursday:

This map illustrates our tour plans for Thursday, June 2nd 2016.  The association rented a tour bus that will pick up our people at 9;00 AM for a ride outside the USS Constitution site in Boston. Just outside the gate, we will be boarding an amphibious vehicle for a one and a half hour tour of Boston’s historical district followed by a nautical tour through the inner harbor. You can see the route we’ll be taking shown by the thin red line. We have leased one vehicle which holds 48 people and we will fill those seats on a first come, first serve basis. If the vehicle gets filled you can still take the tour if

there is room on the regular 10AM tour, the same time that we are leaving with our tour.

After returning to our starting location at the entrance to the USS Constitution site, we will enter the site and prepare to board “Old Ironsides”. It is, will still be, in dry dock, which normally prohibits a full tour of the iconic ship. I spoke to the Events Officer of the ship and based on who we are he is not only allowing us to tour all four decks but he will be providing a guide for our tour.

Now this is important so pay mind. In order to board the ship you must show a photo ID and you will have to go through metal detectors.

After we complete the ‘Ironsides’ tour you are free to do either of these choices:

1.      You can tour the museum, although geared towards school children; it is still an interesting tour.

2.      Walk behind it where you will see a wharf which leads you to a water shuttle, shown left, that will take you to the Faneuil Hall / New England Aquarium area. Price for that ride is $1.30 for senior citizens. The short cruise offers a beautiful view of the Boston skyline of both the inner and Boston Harbor.

 3.  Or you can go back to the Constitution site where Super Duck Tours  area provides a free bus to the Faneuil Hall area for all who took the duck boat tour.

Whichever option you choose, you’ll end up at the Faneuil Hall /New England Aquarium area where everyone will choose how to spend the approximately three and a half hours before our motor coach picks us up right on the side of the New England Aquarium at 4 PM.

The Freedom Trail with many of the historical settings leads right into the Faneuil Hall District and is well marked with a red white and blue line.

First you must register for the trip. The bus is being provided by the association at no cost to members. The cost per person to take the Super Duck Tour is $30. / Person. If you want to assure yourself a seat for that tour with our group and at our discounted price send a check to cover your reservation to Peter Filous.  Be sure to mark on your check “for duck tour” Mail to:
