Christmas

1966

We arrived at Dau Tieng November 24th, the day after

Thanksgiving, on the heels of Operation Attleboro.

After a month of exhausting patrolling in the area surrounding

our new base camp, we were given four days off, Dec 22, 23, 24, 25.

The Vietcong didn't take the holiday off as Christmas evening

they rained 200 mortar rounds into the base, resulting in 44

casualties but none killed.

This is the menu showing what was served that day, 40 years ago.
